The Neighbourhood Partnership Forum for Cabot, Clifton and Clifton East has become too tightly controlled by the four ward councillors. This forum needs to be given back into the hands of the residents with much more representation of local interest groups.

William Hague - Help us win the AV referendum

Without your help, Britain's traditional voting system could be ditched for something that is unfair, expensive and allows candidates that finish third to win elections. On May 5th, there's a nationwide referendum on whether to replace the system of First Past the Post with the 'Alternative Vote' - or AV. The Liberal Democrats demanded this referendum as part of the Coalition agreement - but the Conservative Party are actively campaigning for a 'No' vote.

Clifton Conservatives turn out for No2AV

Clifton Conservatives were campaigning outside Clifton Down shopping centre today to campaign against AV at the referendum in May. Prospective council candidates Marcus Bruton (Clifton East) and Charles Lucas (Clifton) were joined by local Conservatives of all ages and organisers from the cross-party No2AV campaign.

Charles Lucas, a hard-working campaigner, has been selected to stand for Bristol City Council in Clifton. He is representing the area west of Pembroke Road, from the zoo down to Hotwells. Charles is passionate about Clifton and is active in promoting the interests of the area to the council and local businesses.

Clifton and Clifton East are recognised nationally for their Georgian and Victorian houses and leafy avenues but it is only through maintaining the conservation area and rigorously enforcing planning law that this character can be preserved.

Marcus Bruton to stand for council in Clifton East

Marcus Bruton has been selected to stand are prospective city councillor in Clifton East. Marcus is an active local campaigner, who is fighting several key issues, including opposing the Whiteladies Road bus lane, which will have a huge impact on local businesses, and some of the sillier planning issues. Marcus lives on Apsley Road in Clifton East, with his wife and two young children.

Victory for Charlotte Leslie

Charlotte Leslie this morning became the new MP for Bristol North West, the constituency neighbouring Clifton Conservatives. After a long wait at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate stadium, Charlotte was confirmed as the winner at 5.30am.
