Martin Wright, Conservative candidate for Clifton, has spoken about his desire to protect Clifton's green spaces.
He says, "A major advantage of living in Clifton is the abundance of green spaces, which I am keen to help in preserving and enhancing.
"The ending of the Landscape Group’s parks maintenance contract is likely to have an impact on the way that our parks and green spaces are maintained. The Council is moving to the increased use of work “gangs” which rotate from space to space in place of park-keepers attached to one spot who develop an understanding of its needs.
"I would be vigilant to ensure the changes be kept under review so that the maintenance of our green spaces does not suffer. I would also be keen to encourage initiatives, such as those sponsored by the Clifton and Hotwells Improvement Society, to enhance the public space."
