Geoff Gollop chosen as Conservative candidate for Bristol Mayor

Geoff Gollop OBE was recently chosen to stand as the first elected Bristol Mayor by members of Bristol Conservative Party at a meeting held at The Newman Hall in Westbury on Trym.

A local man, he was born in Bristol and went to school in Henbury and Clifton. Well-known and respected in the Bristol business community, he is a chartered accountant with a general practice in central Bristol.

Bristol Conservatives Chairman Lesley Alexander said after the meeting, "I am very pleased that we have chosen Geoff as our candidate. He was Lord Mayor last year and did an outstanding job of meeting the residents of Bristol and listening to their concerns. He is a Bristolian and wants to see our city take its rightful place as one of the best and well run cities in the country. He is an accountant and as such his expertise will be invaluable in ensuring that our taxes are not wasted."
