Clifton RPZ Update

It is with great relief we have finally now been able to introduce the Residents Parking Zone to Clifton Village or ‘CV’ as the zone is known. This follows on from the successful launch of the CH, ‘Clifton Wood and Hotwells’ zone in May 2014. This was as a result of extensive consultation with the residents and traders of Clifton.

As you will be aware there has been considerable opposition to the introduction of RPZ from a small, vocal minority of people. I am relieved to say the bulk of this opposition has melted away and the vast (silent) majority have welcomed the scheme. I do accept there are a small number of isolated design issues which will be reviewed in due course and there is still considerable feeling over the hours of operation. I maintain my desire to see the whole of CV and CH zones operating from 0900-1900 Monday to Saturday with more pay and display spaces in various locations.

At the time of writing this I am pleased the overdue review of the CH zone is about to be published - long overdue but welcome nonetheless.

If you have any detailed suggestions regarding the RPZ review in CV or CH please do not hesitate to contact me via email: charles.lucas@bristol.gov.uk
