Conservative Councillor Charles Lucas has praised a new Park & Ride service which is to run from Long Ashton to Southmead Hospital through the ward of Clifton.
The improved no. 505 bus is due to start on 14th April, and will operate half-hourly, six days a week, between 6.00 am and 7.00 pm, with links to Clifton via Hotwells Road and Jacob’s Wells Road.
In order to maximise passenger numbers, this route will also take in one of the City’s major tourist destinations, Bristol Zoo.
Cllr Lucas (Con, Clifton) said: “This bus link is important and really good news for all those who live and work in Clifton.
“I have been working with Council Officers for some time now to try to improve our local bus provision and this is just the ticket to providing people with a real alternative to driving the car.
“The new service is designed to take in major attractions like Bristol Zoo as well as making the new super hospital at Southmead much more readily accessible.
“It is just this kind of transport initiative, offering the travelling public a convenient, reliable and affordable service which will help to cut congestion on our overcrowded roads.”
