Charles Lucas, Conservative Councillor for Clifton, has come out strongly against the proposed role out of the new 20 mph speed limit across the city as proposed by the Mayor.
Charles was interviewed by ITV news saying he felt the proposed scheme was being forced through and was unlikely to be enforced by the Police.
Charles adds, "Why do we need a blanket 20 mph scheme when the average speed in the city is only 16.4 mph and the Police don't plan to enforce it? It will cost millions to implement and is entirely unnecessary.
"I do, however, support a carefully designed scheme where roads frequented by a lot of pedestrians and especially around schools, parks, the zoo etc. are restricted on grounds of safety."
