Friday, 4 May, 2012
Bristol has voted to directly elect a mayor to run the city. About 41,032 voted in favour - 35,880 voted against. That meant that Bristol bucked the national trend, with Manchester, Nottingham, Coventry and Bradford saying 'no' although Doncaster will be run by a mayor and other results are still to come.
